Week 39: Hmm...Should I Be an Ambulance Driver 🚑 or a French Teacher👨🏻‍🏫?

Bonjour ma famille,

So, I'm going to start off this email with the biggest miracle I have
ever witnessed/been a part of in my life. It all started with going up
to Lyon to pick up our car (a 2014 automatic Opel Corsa). Sadly, it
isn't manual, but it's better than a hybrid Yaris. But back to the
point, we picked up a car and headed home at around 5:00 pm. On our
way home, we kept on getting the prompting that we should spend the
night in Avignon, but we just kept pushing it off because it felt like
a dumb idea. Then, we had to get gas, and we decided to stop right by
Avignon to get gas. A little side note, we had been talking to Avignon
before, and they knew we were right by Avignon. Also, the Marseille
Elders were in Avignon for an exchange. Back to the story, we were at
the gas station when the Avignon Elders called us and asked us to come
get Elder Johnson (one of the Marseille Elders) and bring him home
because he had an allergic reaction after eating a peanut. So, we
hurried over there and saw that he was in pretty bad shape. Luckily,
he at least had an EpiPen. We then decided to drive him to the
hospital, so I was kinda like an ambulance driver for a brief moment
haha. He was in the hospital for quite a while, so Elder Berget, Elder
Sorenson (Elder Johnson's comp), and I were waiting pretty impatiently
in the waiting room for about 2 hours or so. We were finally able to
see him at around midnight, and luckily, he was doing a lot better.
After speaking with the doctors, we learned that if it wasn't for his
EpiPen and the car, things could have gone really south. Apparently,
it was a very close and dangerous situation. But, we learned that he
has to stay the night, so we were planning on staying with him and got
approval from President Brown. But, the doctors wouldn't let any of us
stay. But somehow, we convinced them to let Elder Sorenson stay. So,
we ended up staying the night in Avignon even though we got home
around 2:30 am. The next morning, we woke up, picked the Marseille
Elders up, and took them home.

This experience was super crazy and tiring. But looking back, it was
really cool to be apart of. I still remember feeling stupid for
feeling like I should go and spend the night in Avignon, but there was
a reason. I know that God loves us and puts people in our lives to
help us out/keep us going.

This week we visited a lot of less actives to give them invitations
for the Paris Temple open house. It was pretty cool to see these
people be so surprised that there was going to be a temple in France
because, for the most part, they didn't know about it. These
invitations also helped remind them the importance of the temple and
the importance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Oh and to explain the title, I received a nice compliment from a
member that we visited this week that told me that I should become a
French teacher. It is always nice receiving compliments like that
because learning a language is pretty dang hard.

I love you all!!! 😘

Love,
Elder Mason
