Week 14: Bleus Exchange and General Conference

Bonjour mes amis,

This past week, Elder Loveland and I ended up spending quite a bit of time out of our sector. Instead, we were in Gap for an exchange and for district meeting. I ended up doing a bleus exchange meaning that two bleus (or missionaries in their first 12 weeks) go on exchange with each other. So, I went on exchange with Elder Pistole who has only been in France for about 3 weeks now. I was kind of nervous because he didn't know very much French which meant that I was the fall back. We ended up having a rendez-vous, did some porting (knocking on doors), contacting, and pass backs. Surprisingly, the exchange actually went by pretty smoothly. I ended up saying pretty much everything because Elder Pistole has even less experience than I have. I am pretty sure that there was only one time when I was kind of confused with something a French person said, but besides that, all went well. The exchange actually ended up raising my confidence in my French ability, too.

This past Saturday, while doing some porting in a neighborhood by Mont D'Or. We ended up meeting a man named Christophe. He was a really nice man. He currently isn't believing, but he is interested in learning more about our church. So, he gave us his phone number, and now we are going to go see him this Thursday.

Now time to talk about the obvious highlight of the week: General Conference. It was so great to have the opportunity to hear from our prophet and his apostles. One of my favorite talks that I heard was actually the very first talk given. It was in the Saturday morning session by Dieter F. Uchtdorf. He talked about members of the church truly appreciating the things that we have been given. This kind of reminded me of my life before I left on my mission. Before, I honestly didn't realize how blessed I truly am to have the Gospel in my life or how awesome it is to have a prophet called of God that guides us. Also,we have the Book of Mormon today that contains more teachings of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. It is so easy to take all of these things for granted, but I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ truly does bless lives.

Love,
Elder Mason

I found someone that really likes America
