Week 46: "J'ai acheté votre livre"

Bonjour à tous,

So this week, we had the chance to passback some potentials that we found recently. One of the potentials was this man who was super Christian. He knows the scriptures so well, especially the Old Testament. He was also telling us about all of these holidays that he celebrated. We eventually figured out that he celebrates a bunch of the holidays from the Old Testament. It was kinda weird haha. He also told us about a book that he made that he said was just his testimony. So, I was expecting this book to be pretty short, but it ended up being about 200 pages! We didn't really have much time to talk about our beliefs, but we plan on seeing him again soon. We just left him with a Restoration brochure.

Another person that we passed was this one woman who we met and talked to for quite a while. Her name is Bernadette. She is a super nice woman. We talked for a while the first time we met her and discussed about some of the bad stuff going on in the world today. We left her with Restoration brochure because we had to go. When we came back to see her, she was super excited to see us. She then proceeded to tell us that she had bought our book. At first, I was like, "What book?" She then said, "You know, the Book of Mormon!" I was just so confused at first because first I didn't even know that you could buy copies of the Book of Mormon and second because she bought one. Normally, it's difficult to give out copies of the Book of Mormon for free, and she went out of her way just to buy one! It was a pretty cool miracle and is the first time that that has ever happened to me!

Also, Skyping the fam was pretty fun. I got to do it chez one of the coolest families ever (The Longin Family). After skype, we ate, played spoons, and ate a super, super, super good tiramisu made by Victoria Longin who is actually just about to put in her papers.

About a month ago, I started reading Jesus the Christ which btw if you haven't read, you definitely have to read it. I literally can't put the book down, and I feel like that never happens with me haha. Anyways, I just finished reading about when Christ payed for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane. Reading this just reminded me of how grateful I am to have someone who loved us all enough to pay the price for each and every one of our wrongdoings. I know that the plan that God created for us would have been frustrated if we didn't have a Savior. There is a scripture that I really like a lot. It is found in Jean 16:33. It says, "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." I know that thanks to Jesus Christ and His Atonement, there is no reason to be said. Thanks to Him, we can change. Thanks to Him, we can become perfect even as Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father are perfect.

Love,
Elder Mason
