Bonjour ma famille et mes amis,
So, we watched the Worldwide Missionary Broadcast on Wednesday. It was
really good and was a really good reminder of how we should be doing
missionary work. Some of the bigger stuff that they shared was about
our new schedule and the key indicators. The new schedule is fairly
similar to what we already have after President Brown adjusted it for
our mission except for the 30 min lunch which is kinda hard to do in
France, but I'm just happy that I'm not serving in Africa because I
saw that they have to wake up at 6:00. The key indicators, on the
other hand, are a lot different. Key indicators btw are basically the
numbers that we would get and send in to church hq each week like how
many lessons we taught w/ a member in the presence and all that. But
now, there is only 4 (I think) which includes: baptism/confirmation,
amis at church, amis with baptismal dates, and new amis. It's a really
cool idea because it kinda shows us what we should really be pushing
our efforts for.
This week, I had the opportunity to go on exchanges with Elder
MaCarthur, Elder Templeton, and Elder Bott. One thing that was super
fun that I did with Elder Templeton is that we passed by Modeste &
Maria Mocellin's house. They are the grand parents of all of the
Mocellins here in Grenoble and are originally from Italy. It ended up
working out perfectly because Elder Templeton actually lived in Italy
for a year. Because it was Elder Templeton's 2nd week in France, it
was a good way to help him with his French. But, it was really fun,
and they gave us a bunch of Italian chocolate too.
When Elder Abney and I had left Lyon after our exchange with the zone
leaders, there was a bunch of problems with the trains going between
Lyon and Grenoble, so we ended up waiting a long time and went through
Chambéry to get to Grenoble. But, because of all these issues, we
ended up getting on the train with this one guy that we ended up
talking too. His name was Noé. After seeing our plaques, he, of
course, asked us if we were Témoins de Jehovah first. After we said
no, he then guessed Mormons which I thought was pretty impressive
because it only took him to tries. He was then interested what we
exactly believe, so we taught him the Restoration. He was so
intrigued, and it all seemed to make sense to him which is so awesome.
It was such a great lesson and miracle to have. We are planning on
seeing him soon. 😋
I love you all!!!
Love,
Elder Mason
