So, this week started off with a super fun Soirée Familiale (family
night) with our two recent converts (Claudine [mom] and Amelie
[daughter] Di Gallo) and Alexis Portellano. We first shared a message
on fasting and tithing, and all went well. Then, we played some board
games and some baby-foot (foosball), and sadly, Amelie and I just
barely lost to Berget and Alexis. We then finished off the night with
some really tasty fajitas made by Claudine. Also, they had one of the
prettiest views I've ever seen. (Picture included)
We also had the opportunity this week to visit a less active named
Oheau. He is Tahitian and is in France for military reasons. He also
recently (as in last week) had a baby with his wife, Océan. BTW his
wife is not a member, but she seemed pretty into our lesson and even
asked questions. We taught with Frère Portellano about the priesthood
because we are trying to prepare him to receive the Melchizedek
Priesthood. It was such an awesome lesson, and Oheau was really able
to apply into his life how important it is to hold the Melchizedek
Priesthood as the patriarch of his family. He has such a powerful
testimony, too! It's just been pretty hard because he lives in a ville
called Istres which is super far, and he has to help out his wife and
son at the moment.
Oh and we also taught his neighbor's son who I believe is about 9 and
who is also Tahitian. We taught the Restoration, and it went alright.
It was just difficult because the kid was really shy. But, his mom who
is less active also joined in the lesson, so we are kinda working on
them both by teaching the kid. We also are hoping that one day we can
teach the father who is apparently Catholic.
So, it's time for stake conference again, but this time, they streamed
a transmission from Nice to Vitrolles. It kinda stunk because the
transmission stopped working about halfway through the conference, but
at least I got to see President Brown speak which is always so good.
He just shared his powerful testimony on personal revelation and how
important it is. I know that there is a God who love us and is waiting
to help us/give us guidance. We just need to ask. Just like when
Joseph Smith prayed and asked to know which church was true, we can do
the same and ask whatever question we may have, and I know that He
will give you an answer.
Love,
Elder Mason
BTW I'll respond to you emails later because I'm on my way to Nice for
a conference.
