This past week started off pretty well. Elder Thorneloe and I have grown to become a very strong companionship. Our lessons have been getting better and better and our French skills have been getting better and better. This past Monday, Elder Thorneloe and I went to the MTC health clinic because Elder Thorneloe had some health problems that had been flaring for the last two weeks. After talking to the doctor on Monday and Tuesday, they decided that it would be best for Elder Thorneloe to go home and said that he could only come back if his health problems are considered "stable" for three months in a row. Sadly, the doctor said that this isn't very likely. Elder Thorneloe then had to call his parents and start packing up. He left the MTC at 12:00 on Wednesday. The night before he left, we had a zone prayer in which Elder Thorneloe bore his testimony at. His testimony was so strong, and he definitely deserves to be here and serve in France. During his testimony, just about the whole zone teared up including me. I know it sounds weird. I don't even remember the last time I cried. I just felt so bad for him. On the bright side, Elder Thorneloe is still a strong guy. On the way home, he even gave the man that was sitting next to him a Book of Mormon. Nothing can break down Elder Thorneloe. I would just like to ask everyone to remember Elder Thorneloe in your prayers so that he may be comforted and that his health problems may be fixed. Thanks!!!
One thing that is pretty exciting is that I get my flight plans either today or tomorrow. I can't wait. I'm soooooo excited to go to France. The only thing that I'm worried about is that there is a chance that I will have to fly over Asia because apparently the last missionaries who went to the France Lyon Mission went the opposite way around the world because it was cheaper. That would be a long long flight. On the bright side, we have a super cool group going to Lyon, so we'll have a great time on our way to France. Can't Wait!!!!
Avec Amour,
Elder Mason
One thing I forgot about but should add on is that Elder Bednar came to the MTC this past Sunday for devotional. It was such a great experience and the Spirit was so strong there. He did a Q & A style of teaching. He just had missionaries raise their hands, and he relied on the Spirit to choose those who would benefit everyone. There wasn't a single bad question. Everyone learned something from that devotional. I'm so grateful for these opportunities that we've been given in this life on Earth.
