Week 11: Formule 1

First off, we had district meeting this week, and it was awesome. We were talking about the talk by Henry B. Eyring called "Rise to Your Call". If you haven't read it, I would highly suggest doing so. After, we ate Ratatouille which was super good, and each companionship brought a different type of cheese. Then, we finished off with one of the best peach cobblers that I have ever eaten with homemade whipped cream made by Soeur Walker. Which reminds me, this past week we gained Elder and Soeur Walker (a senior couple) in our district. They are serving in Gap.

Now time to talk about the Formule 1 (Formula 1). So, one night Elder Peterson and I were having soiree familiale (family night) with the Simon family. They are such a nice family and have two little, cute kids. Then, I later learned that they love Formula 1. Apparently, they have been to the Monaco Grand Prix for the last two years, Spa, and Monza. Plus, they are in love with Ayrton Senna which is awesome. So for their anniversary, they went to Sao Paulo, and they saw some Aryton Senna memorobilia and were able to ride around the track in Brazil. I'm so jealous. They have already done a lot of my dreams of things to do in life.

One night in centre ville, we were waiting to have a soiree with the Boukobza's kids (which btw ended up being very fun, and we ended up playing foosball, Bang, and a game called Les Loups Garous which is basically Werewolfand juast about all French people love to play). But, while we were waiting, this old woman, who ended up being 99 years old, came up to us and started to talk to us. The very first thing she asked was if we were Mormon. After we said yes, she said that she could tell because we were happy. She later talked about how she grew up in Syria and met some Mormons once when she was very young. But, I just thought that it was so interesting that one of the key characteristics that she had noticed growing up and meeting a Mormon was happiness.

The Gospel truly is a blessing in my life. It has helped guide my choices and be more inline with the way that God would want me to live my life. This Gospel also brings happiness. One thing that I share with people pretty often is that God didn't send us to Earth to be mad or angry but instead to feel happiness. We need to share the teachings of the Gospel with others so that they too can feel more happiness in their lives.

Love,
Elder Mason
